first class comments

I was a little overwhelmed the first class with the emphasis on computers. But something really struck me. When Prof. Grignano mentioned that all 21st century teachers need to be comfortable with using a computer in class. Even though my high school education did not rely heavily on computers, I realize that this is not the case for our younger generations.
I'm an English major, so it might require more research to develop a lesson plan around computers. The site that we visited, Answers.com, could be a useful tool for research in the lab before writing a composition. Also, there are CD's geared to specific topics that can be used to facilitate a new topic. The possibilities are endless: Movies could be shown, clips, music or slides can be utilized. My concern was learning the guts of the computer, so I'm not stuck wondering how each program works. In order to make it easy for students, I am going to have to really work at to figure out. Should be a challenge.
